Description

An effective Spey cast depends on efficient transfers of energy in each of its three main components: Lift, Load and Deliver. By using our proprietary Revolution 8 Graphene technology along the entire length of our two-handed rods, we get a blade with an unmatched ability to capture and carry power, plus outstanding control. The energy production during the cast applied directly to the rod is completely transferred to the line, so Spey anglers do not have to compensate for lost energy or imprecise rod movements. With the Sage Spey R8, casts are smooth, instinctive and consistent.

Lift: Adequate stiffness, power and responsiveness paired with light weight ensure that no effort is wasted and fatigue is minimal when lifting long or heavy heads, sink tips and flies.

Load: R8 technology maximizes the amount of energy collected in swipe or touch-and-go movements, carries it into the D-loop and transfers it smoothly to stick.

Deliver: The responsiveness and control of R8 technology minimizes wasted energy and reduces lateral movement in the throw, increasing power and accuracy.

FINE-TUNED ACTIONS
When designing our new Sage Spey R8 rods, we realized that there is no single action that is suitable for the wide range of two-handed applications found around the world. We identified four different applications, each with its own unique requirements. This new approach matches the action with the application and ensures anglers have the most finely tuned Spey rod for their fishing. Across the range, our Revolution 8 Technology ensures a remarkably smooth and intuitive feel, regardless of line configuration.

CLASSIC AESTHETICS
Sage's history of designing and building two-handed fly rods dates back to the late 1980s. While the performance of the Sage Spey R8 family is the epitome of our most advanced material technology, blade designs and rod weight-length configurations to date, we chose the aesthetic as a gesture to our deep history. Every detail is a thoughtful blend of functional intent and traditional aesthetics. The overall look feels fresh yet familiar, is distinctly Sage and inspires you to pick up your rods and fish with them.

BLADE COLOR
Rich and warm, "ale" colored blades together with black and gold wraps symbolize the meeting of history, culture and innovation.

WOODEN ROLLER BRACKET
A traditional walnut insert along with granite color aluminum components follows a classic theme and complements the "ale" color of the blade.

CORK HANDLES
Excel in most Spey fishing situations and are best suited to handle a mix of line types and casting styles.
